Cory Fagan, BPE (Hons), MSc

Cory is the Director of Peak Power Sport Development at SAIT in Calgary. Cory has two degrees in Exercise Physiology from the University of Calgary (BPE (Hons) and MSc.). Cory initially specialized in weight training and sport science testing and in the last 5 years has moved into studying and participating in Endurance Sports like marathons and Ironman competitions. Cory enjoys skiing, weight lifting, hockey, skijoring (with dogs), and beers with the staff every week.

Cory worked with Jari at the Peak Performance lab to measure the physical adaptations that occur within the Ripped! workout. The lab performed Volume of Oxygen Consumption (VO2) testing with a metabolic cart using the Ripped! workout as the exercise protocol. The discoveries resulting from this testing explain why the Ripped! workout gets such fantastic results! Cory has provided a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the Ripped! program.


Walker Dosdall, BSc (Kin)

With an undergraduate degree in Kinesiology specializing in Exercise Physiology from the University of Alberta and professional training at New Zealand's Waikato Institute of Technology (WINTEC), Centre for Sport and Exercise Science, Walker brings a wealth of new ideas and passion to the Ripped! Team.

Walker's athletic career includes basketball, mountain biking, snowboarding and adventure racing. Some of his new areas of interest include cycling, running and bike fit research. His diverse athletic background and extensive laboratory experience have contributed to keeping the Ripped! workout on the leading edge.


Krista Guichon, BPT

Krista Guichon has practiced physiotherapy for the past 27 years and has spent the last 23 years within the private practice setting. She has made an invaluable contribution to the Ripped! program with her expertise and input on safety and technique.

Krista enjoys participating in outdoor recreational activities with her husband and three daughters. She has made a commitment to staying active and loves hiking and mountain biking in the summer and skiing or snowboarding in the winter. The Ripped! program has helped her keep her physical fitness at a very high level so she can successfully continue to enjoy her pursuits. Krista’s calm and professional demeanor has brought her a great deal of respect from everyone involved in the Ripped videos.


Michelle Milot, B.Sc. Kin, AFLCA

Michelle Milot brings a world of experience with her. She has trekked through the Himalayas, is an accomplished rock climber, telemark skier, former track & field and swimming competitor, and is also a Rescue Dive Instructor. Her adventurous spirit has taken her all around the world and has always kept her searching for new experiences, especially those that challenge her physical and mental well-being. Michelle’s enthusiasm for health and wellness shows in everything she does.

Her involvement in Ripped began in 2004 as a dedicated participant. Michelle rapidly moved her status to an instructor and instantly took interest in creative choreography building. Michelle was always searching for new ways to have fun with her workout and Ripped! just happened to be the perfect solution. “With such a busy, on-the-go lifestyle its a perfect way to train. A full body weight training and calorie burning workout in an hour all done to fun music in a group setting. I love it!” Even with Michelle’s variety in training, she finds nothing has managed to give her the quick results of increased muscle tone and lower overall body fat as much as Ripped! has. She currently works in Calgary as a gym manager, personal trainer, and group instructor teaching Ripped!, Spin, and Core classes. Michelle always makes her classes colorful, fun and dynamic.


Dr. Natalie Carrington B.Arts.Sc., D.C., D.Ac., C.A.F.C.I.

Dr. Natalie Carrington graduated summa cum laude from McMaster University in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts and Science. From there, Natalie pursued her studies in Toronto, graduating magna cum laude from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 1994. In the summer of 1992, Natalie completed her diploma of acupuncture at the Open International University in Columbo, Sri Lanka. From 1994 until 2000, Natalie taught various courses for the massage therapy programme at Mount Royal College, including anatomy, pathology, and sports massage. During this time, she also completed 3 of 4 years toward a fellowship in Chiropractic Sports Sciences. In the past 4 years, Natalie became certified by the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute in anatomical acupuncture, as well as certified in Gokavi transverse technique, a new form of acupuncture dry needling.

Presently, Dr. Carrington resides and works in the Foothills area southwest of Calgary. Natalie, and her husband Dr. Greg Morris, own the Diamond Valley Chiropractic Clinic in Black Diamond, Alberta. Their clinic is situated in the Sheep River Centre which also houses a large fitness centre, an organic restaurant, and many more health disciplines. Natalie and Greg live south of Bragg Creek with their two wonderful children, Mahala and Jonah.


Karen McGrath, RN, BN

Karen completed her Bachelor of Nursing Degree from the University of Calgary in 2003.  Although she has worked in several areas of health care, her primary focus has been in Labor and Delivery. She is currently employed by the Calgary Health Region.  

Along with her family and faith, fitness has always been an important part of Karen's life.  Her passion for fitness started in her school years and she credits much of it to one of her physical education teachers.  She has been active in fitness for many years and completed the AFLCA training 11 years ago.  She has been extremely impressed with the Ripped! program.  As part of the Ripped advisory board she feels privileged to work with such  dynamic group.  Her goals are to improve her own fitness level and to instill her passion for health and fitness to her daughters and to others.


Leah Crane, BSc. Registered Dietitian

With a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Nutrition, Leah and became a certified Registered Dietitian upon completion of an intensive dietetic internship with a large-scale health organization. She is also a member of the Alberta College of Dietitians and Dietitians of Canada.

Leah began her career as a Nutrition Consultant in the retail food industry providing tours and educational advice to help consumers make wise food choices.  She currently works with acute care facilities at the Calgary Health Region.   As a private consultant she offers group and individual counseling sessions on how to achieve and maintain healthy nutritional goals. Leah realizes that one plan does not fit all when it comes to nutrition.  She takes pride in helping each client develop a unique nutrition plan tailored to his or her daily lifestyle and personal needs. Leah provides clients and patients with sound nutrition advice for weight loss and weight maintenance, eating for improved sport performance and consultation on special  medical conditions.  Leah’s advice is always based on the most current research.

Leah developed a passion for nutrition and fitness from a lifelong involvement with sports as a member of many competitive soccer teams and later as a coach.  Currently, she still enjoys running and recreational soccer.  Leah’s passion as a dietitian is to assist others to achieve optimal health through proper nutrition and an active lifestyle.  It is Leah’s strong belief that healthy eating can still be fun!  She is so excited to be part of Jari Love’s Get Ripped team where she can offer her knowledge and enthusiasm for bringing together nutrition, fitness and healthy lifestyle practices.


Brittany HaleBrittany Hale, BCOMM Marketing; AFLCA Certified Fitness Instructor in Resistance Training, Spin & Hi-low & Assistant to Jari Love

Growing up in an energetic family, Brittany was always involved in a variety of sports and outdoor activities.  Receiving awards such as Top Athlete and Top All Round Student were early tributes to her dedication to fitness as well as education.  From grades 9 –12 Brittany was heavily involved in trampoline and tumbling gymnastics where she competed and rose to a national level.  Upon receiving a bilingual diploma in 2003, Brittany retired from competing in order to make more time for her immediate entry into post secondary.  At the age of 17 she started into the Bachelor of Commerce Program at the University of Calgary while remaining in the gymnastics community acting as a competitive coach.

Brittany teaches fitness classes regularly at both Fitness Plus locations in Calgary.  She is an AFLCA certified fitness instructor in Resistance Training, Spin and Hi-low.  She has also recently completed the Ripped Fitness Testing Workshop.  Brittany is now working on gaining personal training experience to help Jari keep up with the growing number of clients.  Brittany also continues to assist Jari with a multitude of exciting projects and is responsible for organizing any and all new programs that they develop.  Brittany was recently involved in Jari’s latest video projects that were filmed in the summer of 2008.  Outside of the gym, Brittany plays soccer for the Calgary Timberhawks Soccer Club participating on the women’s and co-ed teams that play indoor and outdoor throughout the year.  Brittany continues to enhance her knowledge within the fitness industry and embraces any opportunity to learn more and improve herself.


Lesley TozerLesley Tozer, Bachelor of Social Work & Muay Thai Champion

Lesley has a degree in Social Work, which she obtained in 1991, and is the proud mother of seven beautiful children who inspire her every day. Her interest in physical fitness began after the birth of her twins, children number five and six!  She was looking for a way to better her health, strength and energy level in order to keep up with the kids and to have something for herself outside of the family.

After participating in the Ripped program for some time, Lesley joined the Ripped team of instructors in the spring of 2007. She found the philosophy around the program so innovative, empowering and effective.  You can find Lesley at both Fitness Plus locations where she teaches Ripped, Spin and Muay Thai.  Lesley continues to be active in the art of Muay Thai and has trained very hard to become a skilled fighter.  She competed in Vancouver at the 2007 Canadian Muay Thai Association Championship where she received first place.

Since joining the Ripped Team, Lesley has appeared demonstrating different techniques for bikini legs in the Calgary Herald, and has joined Jari Love on Breakfast Television on numerous occasions. Most recently, Lesley was a part of the video talent in Jari’s latest DVD projects which were filmed in the summer of 2008. Lesley’s goals for the future at this point are to continue to raise the bar for herself in terms of instructing and to continually learn as much as possible in all areas of fitness.


Ruth Skiffington

Ruth is a busy mother of 2 who is passionate about running, horseback riding and, of course, Ripped!
Ruth was the winner of our Summer 2006 Get Ripped Challenge and is now taking the Personal Fitness Trainer course at Mount Royal College. Along with her positive attitude, Ruth brings practical experience related to customer service, administration and marketing to our team. She is excited about a future helping others to achieve their fitness goals.


Karla Heintz, Bsc Nutrition

Karla Heintz is a Nutrition Educator based out of Calgary, Alberta.  She grew up in the prairies and has always taken a keen interest in natural health and well being combined with a variety of sports.

She attended the University of Saskatchewan where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition.  It was there she became the director of a summer ‘Food Fun Camp’ for children as well the creator, host and writer for a short television nutrition pilot. 

After university she acted as a Nutrition Consultant in a fitness center and then moved on to working for a global health care company educating health care professionals on a wide array of nutrition products and the science and research behind them.  Her passion for learning continued as she then ventured into the nutraceutical side of health and presented clinical research on various nutritional supplements to Naturopathic and Chiropractic doctors.

Since the year 2001 she has acted as a public speaker for various nutrition/health events.  Karla takes a strong interest in fitness and acts as a speaker and consultant for various sports organizations and national level gymnastics.  She too is invited as a speaker to public schools and other corporate venues.  In 2006 she was asked to train various staff in Western Canada on nutrition and weight loss for health centers.  Karla started writing nutrition food shorts and articles for a Health Magazine in 2005 which is another medium which keeps her research at its sharpest.

Chum television calls her a ‘Nutrition Expert’ as she has become a regular guest since 2005.  She also was invited to speak on ‘Inside Hollywood’ in November, 2007 and makes regular appearances on Shaw Television in Calgary.  Other stations she has appeared on include CBC and Global.

With a drive to reach out to the public and make life easier for parents Karla has written a book titled “Picky?  Not me mom!”; a topic that adds much stress on all care givers. This book is expected to hit the market in the early summer of 2008.

In her spare time she enjoys making a mess in the kitchen experimenting with healthier recipes and takes a great interest in many sports, acting, singing and anything outdoors.

Karla’s philosophy in life is:  Do not under-estimate the foundation of your mind, body and spirit.  With even one of those wheels missing your tricycle will not drive.


Dr. Randy Johnson, PhD, RSW

Dr. Johnson completed a PhD in Counselling Psychology at the University of Calgary in 1993.  After a five year stint in Lethbridge as the Executive Director of Crossroads Counselling Center, Dr. Johnson returned to Calgary where he founded Master’s Counselling Services and co-founded Personal Health Planning Institute.  He has provided psychological services for over 25 years through various formats including individual, marital, and family counselling, group workshops and instructional seminars.  Dr. Johnson is married and has four sons.


Shoshana Bennett, Ph.D

Shoshana Bennett, Ph.D. is the author of Postpartum Depression For Dummies and co-author of Beyond the Blues: Understanding and Treating Prenatal and Postpartum Depression. She’s also created guided imagery audios that are specifically focused on helping moms take care of themselves. ABC's “20/20” featured Dr. Shoshana as the postpartum expert and news stations including CNN consult her.  Several publications including the San Francisco Chronicle and the San Jose Mercury News have written articles on Dr. Shoshana’s work.  She’s interviewed regularly on radio and television and has been quoted in dozens of newspapers and magazines such as the Boston Globe, Glamour, Psychology Today, New York  Post, Self, Cosmopolitan, USA Weekend and the Chicago Tribune. 

Dr. Shoshana is a survivor of two life-threatening, undiagnosed postpartum depressions. She founded Postpartum Assistance for Mothers in 1987, and is the Past President of Postpartum Support International. Dr. Shoshana has helped over 15,000 women worldwide through individual consultations, support groups and teleclasses.  As a noted guest lecturer and keynote speaker, she travels throughout the US and abroad, training medical and mental health professionals to assess and treat postpartum depression and related mood disorders. She earned three teaching credentials, two masters degrees, a Ph.D. and is licensed as a Clinical Psychologist. She is working to pass legislation that helps reduce the incidence and impact of postpartum mood disorders.
