How do you succeed at reaching your fitness goals? The answer is simple. You have to be stronger than your excuses and stick with the program. There’s a lot of reasons people fail at fitness programs. Most of them start with missing a single workout. Maybe you exercise in the morning and were running late. Perhaps you simply didn’t feel up to working out that day. These are simply excuses and each excuse has a solution.
If you woke up late and didn’t have time to workout, schedule it later that day.
Things happen and sometimes our schedule works against us, not with us. If you’re working out every other day, it means you have some flexibility. Perhaps you did wake up later and didn’t have time for your workout that morning. You can do one of two things. Either you schedule a time later in the day to workout, which could also burn off some of that stress from the late start, or simply fill in with a walk and workout the next day, altering your schedule slightly. I recommend that for those who want to stick closely to the program, you schedule a later workout.
If you simply feel too tired to workout, start anyway.
Sometimes, all it takes is just getting started. Feeling too tired to workout can become a habit, but if you just get moving, you’ll find your energy grows. Exercise is often the best remedy for feeling tired. It gets your blood flowing and boosts your energy level. You’ll be amazed at how good you feel once you start your workout.
You think you’re too busy to workout.
If you have a day that you know will be crowded, get up earlier so you can workout in the morning. When you start your day with a program of exercise, you prepare yourself for that day by boosting your energy level. You’ll be amazed at how great you feel all day after you workout in the morning. A morning workout can also help in another way. You won’t have to worry about those interruptions or things that steal your time and completely change your schedule throughout the day.
- If you hate to exercise, maybe you need to mix it up a bit. Alternate between the DVD or workout class and something that’s active that you enjoy doing. Whether it’s dancing, biking or any other activity, alternating will make the program more enjoyable.
- If you still can’t find time to workout, perhaps you need to look at your present leisure activities. Do you watch TV? Exercise while you do. Do the kids need your attention? Workout with them. They’ll love it.
- You have to be stronger than your excuses and realize they’re just that, excuses. Everyone has a duty to keep themselves fit so they won’t become a burden on others, can accomplish more and feel their best.
- If you want to make your workout more fun, workout with a friend. It can be a family member or your best buddy. Not only will knowing you’re meeting with them hold you accountable, it makes it more fun.
